Handmade and Vintage Gift Ideas

With Christmas only around the corner, I have been madly searching Etsy for wonderful handmade and vintage pieces to give to my loved ones. I believe it is important to support small businesses and independent designers and artists, particularly at this time of year. Unfortunately I have encountered two major problems with my online browsing... (1) I want to keep everything for myself! (2) My 'favourites' list is now 12 pages long! I have put together a collection of beautiful bits and pieces in the hope that you can use it as inspiration for what to buy your loved ones. (I am also secretly hoping that my partner will stumble across this post as well... hint hint!)

Oh, this is such a lovely collection of things to make, Elyse! I know what you mean about keeping everything for yourself, I get that with everything I see on etsy! ♥

My favourite is the organic cushion cover, so pretty.
Love, Maria

shops are already crowded with xmas shoppers as of 3 weeks ago, I think it's a brilliant idea taking the hassle out of gift buying by going online instead. I'll be checking the purses out, they're too cute =)

Mmm...Etsy... xD I clicked on about 5 of those links, sheesh the items are so cute! I know what you mean about Etsy, I have so many items favourited! In fact, I just received a dress off there today, very pleased haha!

And Xmas shopping-wise, I haven't really thought about it yet, whoops!

Ooh! I love that teapot print purse and the custom tea dress! I always find the sweetest things on Etsy. <3 (And then I have the same trouble you do with wanting to keep everything for yourself + having a huge favorites list.)

So far I have bought two Christmas gifts - and both were either indie or handmade. <3 That's my goal for this year: to buy only indie or handmade things - or handmake them myself, of course. ;)

I love that top headband. I actually just finished a tutorial for a headband similar to the smaller velvet bow headbands from the same shop. It turned out wonderfully and I'm so excited for the post to go live later this week! <3

I hope you're having a lovely day. :D

Sweet, lovely ideas! I am trying only to give homemade/handmade/recycled/vintage gifts this year. Etsy is really helping me with this plan!

I just found your blog (twitter recommended I follow you) and love it! I am kind of obsessed with ribbons and bows lately - I even did a <a href="http://www.theowlclub.blogspot.com/2011/11/ribbons-bows.html>blog post</a> about it & Etsy treasury!

I am following now and will enjoying exploring older posts...

I love vintage and floral prints and dresses too! I'm eclectic - mixing vintage with modern, but I love a classic silhouette!

Oh Elyse! Whoever gets a present from you is so so lucky. I adore all these and some from my favourite shops too :) I've bought quite a bit of Christmas presents from etsy this year. I love the convenience of shopping online as all the shops are so crowded and hot this time of year.

Every piece was so lovely. The prints were adorable. This time of year supports the vintage and handmades as everyone is just amazed with the designs and artistic glamour of those items.Jenn Simpson
